Bergen County Zoo!
The Bergen County Zoological Park was the first zoo in NJ to be credited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. I am actually quite surprised by the price of this Zoo because it is in a wonderful price range! The price for a ticket for adults fifteen to sixty-one is eight dollars for a non-resident and four dollars for people who live there! Children who live there are charged two dollars and children who do not live there are charged five.
Membership
Getting a membership to the zoo is going to be really worth your while if you live nearby because you receive special members-only benefits as well as a full year of free admission! Membership fees range from thirty dollars to one hundred and twenty-five. Thirty dollar memberships are for an individual membership and the one for one hundred and twenty-five dollars is meant for two adults and up to four children in the household.
Volunteering
Let me ask you a question, do you love animals? Do you want to help them, take care of them, and nurture them? If the answer is yes, then you need to volunteer to work at the Bergen County Zoo! Working there, you will work with visitors and answer questions about all of the animals and. You will also help the zoo staff with special projects!
Attractions
During the months of July and August, live animal shows will be held daily in the outdoor amphitheatre behind the Tamarin Exhibit. This is a wonderful spot to take small and slightly older children for an amazing show that will have them wowed and wanting to come back!
Inside the education and Discovery center, you will find the learning log which is where you will crawl under a fallen tree and see some insect and bugs that you would find in the woods living under logs. If you have children that love bugs and love to read bug fact books, this is the perfect idea for you! However, someone who doesn’t like bugs may still find this quite interesting if they are able to get over the initial fear!
Going to a zoo is an exciting and fun experience for any child. What is special about this zoo is that it is a new world zoo which mean that it exhibits wildlife from North and South America; displaying rare species such as the Baird’s Tapirs, Andean Condors, American Alligators, Golden Lion Tamarins and South American Pampas.
There are probably a lot of zoos in New Jersey, and a couple just in Bergen County. However, the prices at this particular zoo are really hard to beat! The staff is friendly and informative and offer excellent customer service and are able to answer all questions that you or the children may have about the animals. The animals are treated wonderfully and are obviously very loved and taken care of by the staff. If you are thinking of a fun trip to take with the family, going to the Bergen County Zoo is the way to go!
