It was not Steve’s lifelong dream to be selling cars. He wanted to be an actor. He did study acting a little, but then life interfered and Steve had to get serious. FYI, he did not just want to act, he wanted to be in film.
Fate definitely had other plans. Steve was delivering auto parts and one day the axle on his car broke. No car, no delivering! While looking for a different way to make some money he saw an ad for a car salesperson.

At the beginning of the season, I was the relief pitcher. But I didn’t feel like one. I felt like a disaster. My pitching was terrible. My accuracy was all over the place—balls flying high, wide, and bouncing in front of the plate. I knew I needed to work on it, so I practiced constantly. I threw pitch after pitch after pitch. I stayed late after team practice. I asked my dad to help. I even watched YouTube videos on pitching mechanics. But no matter what I did, I wasn’t getting better.

If you’ve ever tried to balance school and sports, you know it’s not easy. Now imagine doing that with three sports—football, wrestling, and baseball—and still trying to keep your grades up, hang out with friends, and not completely lose your mind. That’s basically been my life the last couple years, and now that high school is coming up, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I’m gonna survive all of it.
My whole educational life, I wanted to understand Einstein’s relativity and quantum physics. I never had the time because my education always interfered – a common sarcastic complaint. Trying to understand Einstein, Planck, Heisenberg, Shrodinger and all those guys was, and is still a chore. Whenever there’s a discussion about those two subjects, it always has to be a book. The concepts are so counter-intuitive that the only way to explain them is with the history of discovery.
So, middle school is weeks away from being over. It’s a strange feeling—not super emotional or anything dramatic—but just weird knowing I won’t be back in that building next year. High school is up next, and even though I’m not exactly jumping for joy, I guess I’m ready for whatever’s coming.
