A Brief Background
The farm has been in the business as an equestrian facility for almost 100 years and has been through several owners before becoming Rockleigh Equestrian Centre in 2003.
Rockleigh Equestrian Centre began when Dr. Stephanie Cohen and her husband Dr. Peter Walsh purchased the property about 18 years ago. It is a lovely 10-acre horse boarding stable, horseback riding centre, and horse farm located in Rockleigh, New Jersey, just about 14 miles from the George Washington Bridge and New York City. Three barns, two outdoor rings, three paddocks, and a 5-acre grass field with a cross-country course are all set in a park-like landscape.
Rockleigh Equestrian Centre is made not just for the horses to enjoy but also for the people to relax, learn, and have fun.

Turnout
The horses can relax in the sun or shade, with a view of the farm and the ring, in eight well-kept paddocks.

Outdoor Ring
Enjoy the large outdoor riding arena, which features weekly course adjustments and night riding lights. The natural sand ring gets dragged every day to guarantee appropriate footing. Weather-related downtime gets kept to a minimum with a French drainage system. Additionally, the covered viewing pavilion is always open for unplanned afternoon picnics or to watch the action in the ring.
Direct Trail Access
Relax and enjoy riding on the facility’s eight miles of trails. This trail access gets offered to both leasers and boarders.

Leasing a Horse
Leasing is a stepping stone between taking lessons and owning a horse. It is an excellent method to prepare riders and their families for monetary and personal obligations.
It is a fantastic chance to check out some incredible horses or hone a certain set of skills without committing to ownership.
Leasing is an excellent method to form a personal bond with a horse. In all of the sessions, you will ride the same horse and take part in every facet of the equestrian journey, from washing to grazing to grooming; you will do them all to help you know if you can give the time and effort to your horse if you wish to own one.
You have more possibilities to ride at your leisure and on your schedule when you lease a horse. You can also attempt new activities that are not accessible in the lesson program, such as trail riding or hunter pacing.
Leasing is a common choice for many people. While most leasers eventually acquire a horse sometime after, some riders want to continue leasing.
Special EventsThe summer is coming to a close with a clinic every month, many hunt paces, and a few horse shows.
However, regarding forthcoming special events, Rockleigh Equestrian Centre is conducting a 6-week winter horsemanship session, which teaches students basic horsemanship skills and abilities.
