It was just another day helping clients to heal from some kind of bodily injury, a back problem, learning how to walk after hip replacement, clients in all shapes, ages and sizes. One older woman was doing her prescribed exercises when all of a sudden she had to relieve herself.
She got up to leave the table, but oops, did not make it or she did make it, right there in the middle of the facility. Just another day. They cleaned up and were ready for her to leave, but no, she wanted to complete her therapies of the day.
Finally her friend convinced her to go. Whew! Another memorable time, a male patient was working his legs and all of a sudden called his therapist over and started to yell, ”I am having an allergy attack.” His face was all red and it was obvious that he was right.
An ambulance was called and it all turned out okay. But it was a very scary moment. It seems it was something he ate. When working with a client in a setting like this, vigilance is so important. Humans are surprising creatures. These were two instances where Cesar Errico, a wonderful physical therapist, saved the day.
Full disclosure, Cesar is the therapist that brought me back to myself after I took a very bad fall while on vacation You can read about it on this page below. I am forever grateful to him and his staff. I am also grateful that I did not have an unusual incident during my time at Excel physical therapy. Although I did break a bell on my graduation day.
Cesar made the decision to become a physical therapist when he realized that it encompassed everything he loved. He was a champ at math and biology which are part of the curriculum. He is a good athlete, and his knowledge of and interest in body building and strength training plus his desire to help people, made it an easy choice. Becoming a physical therapist take s a lot of schooling depending on which road one takes. Cesar attended Rutgers undergrad and Seton Hall for his masters degree. Cesar has a lot of designations after his name.
FYI in New Jersey we have direct access, meaning you do not need a prescription for therapy from a doctor, as long as your insurance is not Medicare. You can use your insurance for up to thirty days. If you are improving, you can continue with therapy.
Cesar is, upon meeting him, soft spoken and confident, For me it was a relief. The exercises he gave me helped me so much that after five weeks of one session a week and working out at home I was pretty much completely healed. I was amazed, because I was badly hurt. Cesar is patient, knowledgeable and kind and really cares about the people he is helping.
This is a blog and not an ad, but I am really happy that I chose Excel and met Cesar and the other good people he works with, The facility is spotless and if you need equipment to work out with at home like resistant bands, take one, please. I will continue with these exercises forever.
In his spare time Cesar works out, loves to read and is a real history buff, going back to Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great .
