The Police and Drivers

Picture

I understand the dangers of driving. I’ve been driving for 75 years. But in my opinion, the police are altogether too preoccupied, almost obsessed with speeding and downgrading the other violations. Driving 35 in a 25 mile zone is not as dangerous as not stopping at stop signs, pulling out of driveways without looking, not using directional signals and let’s not forget the leaves. I had a $400 accident because of leaves last year and a close call this year. Also, we need yellow lines where they belong. With PSEG ripping up the streets, restoring them is not finished without yellow lines.

Bicycles driving abreast are a menace and electric scooters and other electric wheels are dangerous to themselves. Runners or walkers moving with traffic instead of facing it are in terrible danger especially at night, especially when some morons wear black.

But the worst are drivers parking on the wrong side of the street with headlights on. At night, I always try to keep to the right of headlights. If I had done that in the fog the other morning, I would have wound up in someone’s living room.

OK, excessive speeding can be very dangerous but let’s not neglect everything else.
